Dr. Lenoir opened the office to treat what can't wait. She numbs first, says what she sees and writes the estimate before she starts.
Urgent dental care · Carson City
Two general dentists treat the toothache, the broken tooth and the lost crown. You get the fee in writing before we start.

You pay for your own visit here, so the estimate and the receipt come first. Four answers, in the order people ask.
You can ask for a written estimate before any treatment. If you're paying without insurance, we give you a written estimate in advance: when you call, when you sit down, or whenever you ask. It lists each step we expect and the fee for each, and you decide before we begin. If the dentist finds something else once she looks, you hear it and get a new estimate before we go on.

A new estimate if the plan changes
At checkout you get an itemized receipt with procedure codes. If your plan reimburses care from a dentist outside its network, send it in and ask to be paid back. We'll send the claim for you if you ask. The plan decides what it pays, and when.

The plan decides what it pays
Most patients pay at the visit, by card or check. You know the fee before we start. If a problem can wait for your regular dentist, the dentist says so and you don't pay for work you don't need today. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

We are out of network with every dental plan, so we don't bill plans directly. If your plan has out-of-network benefits, such as many PPO plans, our receipt lets you ask it to reimburse you.

What we treat today
Six things we see every week, and what we do about each.
We find the tooth that hurts, calm it down and tell you what it needs next.
How we handle itWe smooth, bond or cover it, so the tooth is protected until it's fully repaired.
How we handle itWe re-cement the crown or replace the filling, so the tooth is covered again.
How we handle itCall us on the way. When a tooth can be put back, we put it back and hold it in place.
What to do firstWe look for the source, treat it, and the dentist decides whether you need medicine.
How we handle itWhen the dentist can't save a tooth, we take it out and tell you what to do afterward.
How we handle itWhat we refer on
We say it up front, so you don't wait on us for something another office does better.
We calm the pain. The root canal itself goes to an endodontist, who gives you their own estimate.
An oral surgeon takes these out. We tell you who to call and what to bring.
That needs an emergency room first. Go there, then call us about any teeth.
We have no hygienists, so these stay with your regular dentist. If you don't have one, we'll tell you how to find one.
These are planned over months. A practice that does them is the better start.
We use local anesthetic only. If you need more than that, we refer you to a dentist who offers it.
Who sees you
Tania Portillo answers the phone and keeps the day's openings straight. Either dentist may see you.

Dr. Lenoir opened the office to treat what can't wait. She numbs first, says what she sees and writes the estimate before she starts.

Dr. Fujita sees urgent patients beside Dr. Lenoir. She tells you what the tooth needs now and what can wait for your regular dentist.
A call, step by step
Tania asks what's wrong, how long it has been going on, and whether you have swelling or trouble breathing or swallowing.
Come in now, come in later, or go to an emergency room. If we can't fit you in, we say so, and we tell you where to try.
A short exam. An X-ray only if it will change what we do.
In writing: each step and its fee. You decide before we begin.
Either the repair, or a temporary one, and a plan for what comes next, including what your regular dentist should finish.
“I called on a Saturday morning, scared. The person who answered told me what to do first and when to come in. I had the estimate in writing before we started.”
“They told me plainly what they would do today and what my own dentist should do later. Nobody pushed me toward anything.”
“The receipt had everything on it that my plan asked for. I sent it in and that was that.”

Call first. We hold time for urgent visits when we can, and we tell you on the phone if we can't, so you don't wait for nothing. Walk-ins are seen when a chair is open.
Most of our patients pay for their own visit, and we are built for it. You get a written estimate before any treatment, and you decide with the estimate in your hand.
We numb the area before we work, and you can ask for a break at any time by raising your hand. Some treatment leaves a tooth sore for a day or two, and the dentist tells you what to expect.
No. We have no hygienists. We treat the problem that can't wait and send you back to your regular dentist for cleanings and checkups. If you don't have one, we'll tell you how to find one.
Yes, always. Ask when you call, or at the start of the visit. It lists each step and its fee, and you can take it home or decide on the spot.
